Parents as Partners

'Without Woodlands my kids wouldn’t have been able to reach where they are now.  Woodlands is an excellent place for kids to have fun.  Woodlands is awesome just the way it is.'      Mrs S.   High Wycombe

Children start their learning at home, where parents are their first "teachers" and Woodlands recognises the importance of working in partnership to support each unique child.

When children start at Woodlands they are assigned a member of staff to be their 'key person'. His/her role is to build a strong relationship with the family and help the child settle and become familiar with Woodlands.

We have a structured communication plan which includes half termly newsletters and parents' evenings in the autumn and spring terms. We operate an 'open door' policy to parents and are always ready to discuss any aspect of your child's progress at a convenient time.

Furthermore, we encourage parents to become involved in the running of Woodlands in many ways. Our management committee is made up of parents and we operate a voluntary rota where parents, carers and grandparents can join us for a morning helping out with activities.

This is a great opportunity to see what we do and your help will be invaluable as it helps us to broaden the range of play and creative activities we undertake.

We appreciate that it is not always possible for parents to spend time at the Setting, but there are other ways they can help, with committee work, fund raising, publicity, maintenance and so on.

Information on child health issues

From time to time we are asked to share with you important health information and guidance provided to us by Buckinghamshire County Council. Leaflets will be displayed on the notice board, and handed out to parents. They will also be made available as downloads, which can be accessed here.
